The La Fenice Opera House is one of the grandest opera houses
in Italy and Europe. It has also burned in three major fires, one of which occured on
January 28, 1996 when this painting was being completed. In this 24" x 30" oil on canvas,
we find our theater audience reveling in the closing night festivities. Young men vie for
the flirtatious affection of the ladies in the opera boxes. This period piece dubuted in
the Mardi Gras exhibitions in the mid 1990's in New Orleans and is now in the Vera Schiff
Collection of Key West, Florida.
