A "Grand Evening in 1880" was premiered at the recent one man exhibition at
the Gingerbread Square Galleries in Key West, Florida. This 24" x 30" oil on
canvas takes place at the Paris Opera House in the late 1800's. This work
is part of the ongoing series of theatrical audience scenes taking place in the
grand theaters of Europe. Here we see a crowded opera box filled with
nighttime revelors as they are bathed in the warm glow of stage light from
below. Personalities and emotions abound as they react to the haunting
performance. Look for the poodle on the lap of the swooning hand-kissed maiden
on the left.
