The Cafe Florian is part of a cafe series stretching from 1991 to 1995. These
paintings embody the mystery and magic of Caranavale in Venice, Italy and
specifically the Cafe Florian located there. This historic place dates back to
the 18th century and has been the scene of many late night rendezvous. Here
we see our masked cafe dwellers beckoning to come play or toasting life in
their exotic costumes. Many of these oil paintings were part of the Mardi Gras
exhibitions in New Orleans in the mid 1990s.
