Little Billy Catfish3 Trio and The Griefs

I had the pleasure of running sound at Top Cat's for the Little
Billy Catfish3 Trio show. The evening started off with some weird noise guitar guy called Lance Love (I think). Just one guy and a Fender Stratocastor blasting out a bunch of noise and screaming about anting some Ho's. It was entertaining for a few minutes but by the second song I was thinking 'What the hell is this sh*t!' Next up were a band called The Griefs. I had never heard of them up to this point but I must say I was impressed. They played that garagy pop stuff that was reminscent of the early brit bands like early 60's Stones or the Yardbirds (kind of like Cincinnati's own Greenhornes. Not really my favorite style of music but these guys played well. All of you garage rockers should definitely go check them out. The Little Billy Catfish3 Trio played in the headlining slot and as usual were awesome. Even with the small crowd on hand they still rocked the stage as if their was 1000 people there. I recently wrote a scene report for two different fanzines (New Rock Review in Houston, Geoff Wilbur's Renegade Newsletter in Newport RI) where I listed 10 bands from Cinci that I think should be signed and listed The Catfish3 Trio. They proved their worth once again tonight by totally smokin'. All fans of rock-n-roll make it a point to head out next time they play and see them live. With a new CD coming out on Eerie Records and a badass live show, look for them to be moving up the music industry ladder soon.
