Heritage Village Museum is continuing their free Civil War Program series with, “Shadow Wars,” on August 15, 2012. The program is sponsored by the National Endowment for the Humanities and the Ohio Humanities Council.
Dr. Christopher Phillips, professor of history and department head at the University of Cincinnati, will lead the program. Professor Phillips’ research interests are in the Civil War and Reconstruction era. His focus is on the American South and the border states during this time period. Professor Phillips has published five books on the topic of the Civil War.
The term “shadow war,” describes Ohio’s tumultuous political culture which dates back to the mid 1800s. Ohio has been immersed in political dissent for centuries-Dr. Phillips’ will discuss Ohio’s political warfare during this turbulent time in American history.
The Civil War Program series will be held in the Hayner House at Heritage Village Museum, inside Sharon Woods Park.
